SUBJECTS IN THE PROGRAMME

The training programme for nurses in the Danish Defence includes instruction in the following subjects, among others:

  • Basic Military Training

  • Foundation Module for Defence Nurses

  • Treatment of Patients Contaminated with Radioactive, Chemical, or Biological Agents

  • Introduction to the Army and the Air Force

The military nursing course aims for a practice-oriented and activity-based teaching approach, where most learning takes place through cases, scenario-based training, and active engagement with the material. This also involves a considerable amount of travel from the training centre in Åbyhøj, Aarhus, to various Defence establishments and facilities across the country.

After completing the programme, you will be able to operate confidently within the military environment as both a soldier and a nurse. You will be able to function within the Defence medical service and apply the procedures and principles that apply there.
